Metzgar Day!

Engine & Rescue 34 participated in the annual end of school year celebration at the James Metzgar Elementary School. Crews spent the morning & afternoon giving tours of the apparatus, showing off the equipment and helping out with the water games.

Building Fire, City of Latrobe

This morning at 06:30 Engine 34 with a crew of 5, operated on the Apartment Building Fire in the City of Latrobe (113 District). 1st arriving city units found heavy fire on the 2nd floor & attic and began interior operations and protecting exposures.

House Fire, New Alexandria

Monday, May 25th, 2015

Memorial Day morning just before 6, Engine & Rescue 34 responded on the House Fire in New Alex Boro (77 District). Engine 77 arrived to find good fire in a 1-story ranch with attached garage and began putting a knock on the fire.

Route 119 Crash, Salem Twp

This afternoon Rescue 34 assisted on a 3-Vehicle Accident on Route 119 in front of Metzgar Elementary School, Salem Twp (90 District). Crews provided traffic control & debris cleanup

Run-In Drills & SCBA Training

Over the last 2 weeks Crabtree members have spent several hours completing our annual company update training that included SCBA recertification and Engine Company Operation run-in drills. We will continue with the run-drills in the coming weeks.

Crabtree volunteers took in 3 incidents this morning/afternoon while staffing the fire station during the funeral for Fallen Officer Lt Eric Eslary. Rescue 34 operated as the RIT on a House Fire in Southwest Gbg (24 District) and assisted on a crash in New Alexandria (77 District).

Motorcycle Accident with Flyout, Unity Twp

After finishing up a busy weekend, Crabtree crews started the new week off with a motorcycle crash in the 1st due on Cemetery Road. Rescue 34, along with Rescues 75 & 90 treated and packaged the patient, while Attack 77 set up a landing zone at the Crabtree Ballfield for STAt Medevac.

Unity Twp Training Night

Engine & Utility 34 attended the monthly Unity Twp training night which was held @ St Vincent College. Crews drilled on drafting & rural water movement.

Not long after clearing a minor accident on Route 22 involving 2 tractor trailers and a passenger car, units were sent to Route 981 north of Route 22, Derry Twp (77 District) for an accident with injuries & ejection.

This morning, Rescue & Utility 34 operated at a Vehicle Accident on the Latrobe-Crabtree Rd, approx 1/2 mile from our station. Crews provided traffic control, fluid cleanup & debris removal. EMS transported 1 patient.

Townhouse Fire, Hempfield Twp

At 12:39 Rescue 34, along with Rescue 10, operated as the RIT company on the Townhouse Fire in the Lynnwood development of Hempfield Twp (75 District). The Rescue crew operated for 1 hour while interior crews put a knock on the fire, ventilated and overhauled the fire building.

This morning at 06:15, Rescue 34 was alerted, along with Rescue 114 as the RIT Team for the House Fire, Derry Twp (71 District). The Rescue arrived and split crews with 114, providing RIT and going to the roof for ventilation & suppression.

This afternoon at 16:50, Engine & Utility 34 responded to assist on the Brush Fire off Route 22 east of New Alexandria, Derry Twp (71 District). Units arrived to find the fire burning along the highway and advancing up the hillside into a local x-mas tree farm.

This evening at 22:05 Engine & Rescue 34 operated at a Chimney Fire outside of Crabtree in Hempfield Twp (75 District). The Engine crew split and laddered the house, sent a crew to the roof for extinguishment and overhaul and assisted with interior operations.

Rescue Runs RIT on Southwest Greensburg Fire

At 18:15 the alarm was sounded for a House Fire in Southwest Greensburg Boro (24 DIstrict), bringing Rescue 34 to the scene. 1st arriving crews quickly extinguished a fire on the 1st floor. Rescue 34 with a crew of 7 arrived in staging, and was released by Command to transfer into 24's quarter...
