Wednesday, March 12, 2008... At 0910 Engine 34 ran a Fire Alarm at Carmella's House Personal Care Home on Cemetery Road in Crabtree. The Engine, with a crew of 4, arrived to find burnt food on the 1st floor with no extension & no ventilation needed.

Friday, February 29, 2008… Today’s snowstorm kept the crews from Crabtree busy this afternoon. In all, Rescue 34 responded to 4 Vehicle Accidents during the height of the storm. Fortunately all of the accidents were minor, resulting in no serious injuries.

Friday, February 22, 2008…Things got started at 0758 with a Vehicle Accident on Route 22 west of Rt. 119 (90 District), bringing out Rescue 34. Units reported in the area with nothing found, all units were then placed in service.

Saturday, February 16, 2008... At 1439 the 1st alarm assignment was sent to 236 Fennel St. in Salemville (90 District) for the House Fire. Engine 34 quickly went enroute with a crew of 6, followed by the Rescue with 6.

Sunday, February 10, 2008 … At 2339 the tones went out for the Vehicle Accident at 1267 Latrobe-Crabtree Road (34 District). Rescue 34 arrived 1st due to find a passenger car hit a tree and overturned, with a fuel spill and debris scattered for approx 50 yards.

Saturday, February 9, 2008 … During the morning snowfall, Rescue 34 was dispatched to the Donahue Road in the area of the old Northern Area School (114 District) for the Vehicle Accident with Injuries.

Wednesday, February 6, 2008…Things got started for the daytime crew at 0550 with some Trees Down across the roadway due to the high winds that continued across the region. Crews quickly handled these weather related incidents & went in service in approx.

Friday, February 1 2008…Thanks to Old Man Winter, the daylight crew at 34 ran 2 crashes today. The 1st being at 1113 on Twin Lakes Road in 114’s District. Rescue 34 went enroute with a crew of 5.

Thursday, January 31 2008…The day’s runs started at 0858 with the 1st Alarm assignment being sent to Roosevelt Way off Route 22, East of New Alexandria, for the Chimney Fire. Engine 34 hit the road with a crew of 6.

Sunday, January 27, 2008…At 1635 Stations 132,77 and 34 were dispatched for the Vehicle Fire on Route 22 E at Route 982 in the 132 (Blairsville) District. Engine & Rescue 34 went enroute with a combined crew of 11.

Friday, January 25, 2008... The dispatch went out at 0010 for the Barn Fire on Bull Lane in Salem Twp., approx 1/2 mile north of Crabtree, in 90's District. Assistant Chief 34 (Kerila) arrived on the scene and reported the working fire.
Thursday, January 24, 2008... It was a sleepless night for the crews from Crabtree. It all started at 0133 with the dispatch to Rizzo's Malabar Inn Restaurant in Crabtree for a Fire Alarm. Engine 34 arrived on scene to an audible alarm and nothing evident from 2 sides.

Wednesday, January 16, 2008…Tones rang out at 2234 sending Rescue 34 to an all too familiar location on Donahue Rd, ½ mile W. of Latrobe in Unity Twp, for the Vehicle Accident. 1st arriving crews found a passenger vehicle off the roadway, wrapped around a tree with 2 patients trapped....

Thursday, January 10, 2008…Station 34 ran 3 incidents for the day, including a Vehicle Fire on Kiley Dr, Salem Twp. At 19:47 Engine 34 arrived 1st due to find a passenger car fully engulfed on an old access road off Kiley Dr.

After a busy end to 2007, the 1st week of 2008 proved to be an uneventful one around the Greater Crabtree area. The volunteers from Crabtree ran the basics: fire alarms, medicals, minor crashes and possible structure fires, turned false.

Tuesday, January 1, 2008…The Rescue took in 2 more incidents on New Year’s Day. Around 18:00 crews were sent for a Medical Assist at Carmella’s House Personal Care Home for the unconscious patient.

Members of the Crabtree VFD, along with numerous other departments, headed to Blairsville to participate in the Funeral Service for fallen Derry Fire Department Assistant Chief Vince Germano. Assistant Chief Germano lost his life at the Fire Station last weekend after cleaning up and cooking a meal...
